Biolase dental laser
At Dr. Stella Gonzalez, we use the Biolase laser for many of our laser dentistry procedures. The Biolase dental laser combines a water spray and YSGG laser energy and can be used to perform a variety of dental procedures.
The use of the Biolase laser offers many benefits over a traditional dental drill. Procedures can often be performed without the need for local anesthesia, which helps reduce patient anxiety. The Biolase virtually eliminates the vibration, pressure and heat that are typical of a traditional drill, and post-operative bleeding, swelling and pain are greatly reduced, and it is also much more accurate than a traditional dental drill.
Biolase® laser applications
We use laser dentistry techniques for many common procedures. The Biolase laser can replace the dental drill for cavity removal, as well as preparing a tooth for root canal therapy. It can also be used to polish the surface layer of a tooth that will receive a porcelain veneer. The laser is essential for soft tissue procedures, such as cosmetic gum surgery. During this procedure, the laser is used to precisely contour excess gum tissue to treat an overly “gummy” smile. These are just some of the procedures that are made more effective and efficient with the use of the Biolase laser.
